Monday - July 28, 2008

Kenadie is still doing awesome, she is loving the milk she get every 3 hours, it settles her right down. The nurses got her out again today for me to hold. So much easier to hold without the vent tubes there. As I would talk to her she would open her eyes and look at me and them close them. I actually got to hear her cry for the first time, it was so cute but hard at the same time. She is up to 1 1/2 ml of milk every three hours and is up to 2 pounds in weight. They did another ultrasound of her head and she has a grade 1 bleed on the right side, the Dr. said that is normal in preemies and not to worry about it. We are so blessed that she is doing so well. Keep it up sweet little girl!

Sunday - July 27, 2008

Kenadie is doing wonderful, still breathing on her own and had a great night.  They started her feedings again giving her 1 cc of milk every 3 hours and then will work their way up.

Saturday - July 26, 2008

My heart is so full of gratitude today and tears very close to the surface.  Kenadie was taken off the vent today and breathing very well on her own.  She has a little oxygen only to help her when she needs it.  The medicine for the pda worked and the hole is closed and so far the fluid from the spinal tap is clear from infection.  She is under the lights again today.   I am so thankful to my Heavenly Father and to all of you for the prayers that have been said in our behalf.  She truly is a little miracle!

Friday - July 25, 2008

We didn't go down to Ogden today, was a very hard day to be away.  They did a lumbar puncture on her today to check for infection in the spinal column.  I was very emotional and wishing I was there.....she needed her mommy!  The nurses said she did very well and was sleeping shortly afterward.  Will be a few days before we get the labs back on that.  Had to stop her feedings (breast milk) because her tummy was a little upset so they are giving her a rest for a day or two.

Thursday - July 24, 2008

Still doing good, they got her out again today and Dave got to hold her first and then I held her for an hour.  It did me a lot of good just sitting there holding her and talking to her, she would open her eyes and look at me and then close them.  I think it is finally sinking in that I am this sweet little girls mom.

Wednesday - July 23, 2008

Today Kenadie got moved off the big vent to another vent that helps her breath only when she needs it instead of all the time.  They said she is basically breathing on her own.  They have started to feed her my milk even though it is 1.5 ml-not very much.  She was started on the medicine for the pda today and was tolerating it really well.  She is down to 1 pound 13 ounces . The nurses keep saying she is full of spunk and has an attitude.  She is a fighter!

Monday - July 21, 2008

I was released today and very anxious to see my little girl so Grandma & Grandpa Lamb took us down to see her.  She is still doing good, she is under the lights today because her biliruben was up a little.  They did a ultrasound of her heart and found out the pda (patent heart artery) was open so they were going to start the medication to close that, hopefully it will work because the next step is surgery.  The nurse actually got Kenadie out of the incubater so that I could hold her.  It ws a little scary because they taped the vent to my shoulder and I didn't dare move.  But I loved the skin to skin touch and I didn't want to put her back.

Sunday, July 20 - 1 Day Old

Sunday, Kenadie is still holding her own and doing well.  She had a head ultrasound checking for a bleed today and that came back clear.  She is still on the vent and lots of iv fluids and antibiotics.   Daddy went down to see her today while I was still in the hospital recovering from the c-section.  They did foot prints to send back to me, so tiny!  I wish I could go down and see her, I miss her so much already.

Kenadie Is Born - 13 Weeks Early - July 19 2008

Our Sweet little angel Kenadie entered this world July 19, 2008 at 4:35 p.m., weighing in at 1 pound 15 ounces and 13 inches long. They got her stable at Logan Regional Hospital and then called Life Flight in to take her to McKay Dee in Ogden. She was 13 weeks early and the day was a total shocker full of emotions and it was hard to take it all in. We know she is in good hands and things will be all right.
